It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl Christopher Joseph, Sr., who left us on Tuesday, Januray 6, 2026, at the age of 38.

On November 21, 1987, Darryl, who's moniker is widely known as "Yayo", was born to the proud parents of Rosalyn Naomi Gumbs Joseph and the late Paul Joseph in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

The family moved to Miami in 1989 after Hurricane Hugo made landfall in the Caribbean Islands. Darryl attended Homestead Senior High School. He later pursued a Career Technical Training Program at the Miami Job Corps Center. Darryl began working at a young age and continued to do so tirelessly until his passing.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and a down-to-earth personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. No matter how tough your day was, he had a knack for saying or doing something that would make you laugh or, at the very least, bring a smile to your face.

His greatest joy came with the birth of his son, Junior, who truly was his world. "Yayo" dedicated himself to ensuring that Junior had every opportunity to succeed and thrive. As a father, he was not only a provider but also a source of love and guidance. His vibrant spirit and unwavering support will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved son, Darryl Christopher Joseph, Jr; his loving mother, Rosalyn Joseph; his siblings, Jennifer Joseph (Antoine), Derrick Joseph (Brittany), and Jelissa Joseph; his devoted girlfriend Tykira Thompkins and leaving too many family members and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Joseph.
