Obituary

Christopher "Chris" Dixon (know as Fireman or Fire by colleagues, friends and family)&after battling a 2nd stroke on 7 February Chris was hospitalized and started recovering on the 10th of Feburary 2024 and was in good spirit. We were hopeful, and several of his children and grandchildren visited with him and surrounding him with love daily. Regretfully, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 around 4:20pm on our way to visiting Chris at the hospital we recieved a call from the Cardiac Surgeon that Chris went into Cardiac Arrest and they were doing their best to resuscitate him. We went directly to the Trauma Unit, and after all attempts failed, Chis was pronounced dead at 5:50pm, February 20th, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, Savannah, Georgia at the Age of 77.

Chris was born in Troy, Trelawny, Jamaica on 25 December 1946 to Ustache and Esther Dixon. One of eight children. Chris is survived by his wife of 34 years, Amperita "Joy" Dixon; children, Yuen, Marcia, Cheryl, Sheridon, Stacy-Ann (Stacy), Chad, Dorten, and Sheldon; grandchildren, Samira, Micheala, Ackeem, Yulicia, Yulaiah, Dennis, Arian, Zephaniah, Christian, and Asher, as well as brothers, Lloyd and Calvin, and sister affectionately called "Ms. Hue," and nephews, neices, and numerous extended family members and friends.

Chris was a devoted father and husband who loved farming, fish, cooking, and doing anything to make sure their is provision for his family. Chris made the meanest steamed fish and crackers. He also enjoyed spending time with friends playing dominoes. His children and his grandchildren especially lighted up his world.

Christopher was trained by the Jamaica Fire Brigade and became a firefighter, where he spent several years as a firefighter in Port Royal, Rallington Town, Denham Town, Kingston. Then later years in Spanish Town and Old Harbour. Chris was well respected by his peers and superiors. He received numerous accolades and awards culminating in the rank of Sergeant of the Fire Brigade.

After immigrating to the United States in 2013, Chris worked as a food preparer/ helper at Good 2 Go Jamaica resurant, where he made many friends. Chris is generally quiet and reserved but is very quick-witted and humorous at times.

In 2013, Chris began attending church regularly at LIFE United Pentecostal and really appreciated and enjoyed the preaching and teaching of Pastor Tommy Crutchfield. He speaks of the simplicity of the messages. Christopher dedicated his life to Christ, and on December 11th, 2014, he was baptized.
