Chad Lewis Barrett courageously faced his challenges with remarkable strength, dignity, and unwavering faith. Though the journey was long and sometimes difficult, he mounted up like a soldier and remained steadfast, trusting God through every season.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Chad peacefully transitioned from labor to reward. Having fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, he now rests in the eternal presence of the Lord, free. Chad was the youngest child born to Ms. Doris Barrett and the late Willie Barrett, Jr. He was a member of First African Missionary Baptist Church in Riceboro, GA.

In his childhood, Chad developed a love for football, playing the sport from the recreational level through middle school and high school. His most treasured memories were playing football and basketball in the yard with his brother Willie, cousins, childhood friends, and being a member of Cub Pack 581.

A 2004 graduate of Liberty County High School, Chad was gifted in mathematics and took great pride in helping others understand and solve complex equations. His ability to tutor others with patience and clarity left a lasting impact on those he tutored.

In his young adult years, Chad attended Savannah State University and Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, FL. He would also begin working at SNF Chemtall in Riceboro, GA until his health began to interfere with his ability to work. It was also in during his young adult years that Chad developed a lifelong love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and became one of the team’s most dedicated fans. At any given time, one might see him outfitted in Steeler Nation apparel. His passion for the team was evident to all who knew him. His enthusiasm was unmistakable --- when the Steelers were winning, his joyful cries of “Here We Go!” could be heard throughout the house; and when they were losing, his silence said it all.

Chad had a determination that was insurmountable and through all his challenges, he lived each day, giving God all the Praise and Honor. He passed his love for God on to his son, Chad (CJ); nephew, Landon; and niece, Kendall. The four of them would have devotion, followed by another song and prayer and then the sermon, delivered by his CJ. Through Chad’s faith and influence, his son, nephew, and niece now serve as devotional leaders on Youth Sunday and are members of the Youth choir.

After a courageous journey marked by faith, perseverance, and strength, Chad fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. He is now at peace, safe in the loving arms of God.

Family was at the center of Chad’s life and meant everything to him. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and found his greatest joy in supporting, encouraging, and being surrounded by those he loved.

He leaves to celebrate his life and memories, his son Chad Barrett, his devoted mother, Ms. Doris Barrett; one sister, Anitra (Antonio) Golden; two brothers, Willie Barrett, III and Chevis Stewart of Hinesville, Georgia.
