Obituary

Our beloved Carolyn Louise Smith entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Carolyn Louise Smith was born April 6, 1951 to Samuel and Albertha "Bertie" Bacon. She was a proud native of Liberty County and committed to faithfully serving her community. Carolyn Smith graduated from Liberty County High School in Midway, Georgia as part of the Class of 1969. Soon after she graduated high school, she went off to Fort Valley State College to further her education in nursing. She wanted to give back to the community and she made great strides by becoming a coach at Liberty County Recreation Department. In 1990, she became a coach for track and field and basketball at the Liberty County Recreation Department. During her tenure as coach, she mentored and built lifetime memories with future athletes and scholars at premiere universities.

Carolyn's heart has always belonged to Albertha, her mother. Bertie's house was her haven and she celebrated her at every opportunity, with events that would bring friends and family from near and far. It was her passion to make sure the children and the elderly were healthy, happy and well loved. Carolyn was a true neighbor, loyal friend, and pillar of the Holmestown community. It is hard to impossible to count or recall the number of people lives she touched over the years.

Carolyn Smith is preceded in death by her father Samuel Bacon, Sr., her brothers Samuel Bacon, Jr., Leon Bacon, Lannie Bacon, Daryl Bacon, and Reginald Bacon and sister, Betty Bacon.
