Mrs. Brenda "BJ" Joyce Johnson

"Honor her for all that her hands

have done and let her works bring her

praise at the pearly gate" Proverbs: 31:31

Brenda "BJ" Johnson, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication.

BJ was born in Pelham, Georgia, on October 29, 1952, to the late Dorothy Lamar Allen and Sonny Birdsong. She attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools, graduating from Miami Jackson Senior High School in the Class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, she answered the call to serve her country and enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1971. Over 14 years of honorable service, BJ completed two tours in Germany, as well as assignments in Washington State and Maryland. She rose to the rank of Sergeant and served as a Stock Control Specialist, Mail room clerk, squad leader, demonstrating leadership and commitment throughout her military career.

As a passionate athlete, BJ excelled in basketball, track, softball and swim team during her high school years. She was also a lifeguard at her neighborhood pool during the summer months. Her love and passion for sports and activities extended into her military service, where she became a proud member of the U.S. Army basketball, softball and color guard teams.

After she exited the military BJ did an array of professions, Sport Director, Child Development, Youth Development, Bingo Caller, Correction Officer, Bailiff, Bail Bondsman, Wal mart employee and multiple positions at the Liberty and Chatham County Sherriff offices.

While serving her country, BJ met and married the love of her life, Leroy Johnson. Their union was blessed with three sons, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. BJ's presence was a beacon of kindness and compassion, touching the lives of all who knew her. She embodied the true meaning of family and friendship, offering unwavering support and warmth to those around her. She attended Bethel A.M.E Church for the first time and made a commitment to serve God.

BJ leaves behind a devoted husband of 40 years, Leroy Johnson; three beloved sons, Robert "Bobby" Jr. (Catrina "Trina"), Robert "Beebop" III, and Liston "LJ"; her loving sister, Doretha Graham of Miramar, FL; two brothers, Anthony Jones of Rocky Mount, NC, and Tracy Allen of Miramar, FL; three cherished sisters-in-law, Addie Moultrie (Lucious) of Columbia, SC, Loretha Simuel (Al) of Elgin, SC, and Annie Johnson of Augusta, GA; thirteen grandchildren; one niece and nephew and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

While we grieve her passing, we find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. We are blessed to have shared in her life for the time God allowed. BJ's spirit will continue to live on in all those who knew and loved her.

**Forever in our hearts, until we met again**
