Mrs. Bertha Mae (Dingle) Green, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother/great-grandmother, friend and beloved member of her family and community passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026.
Bertha was born on March 27, 1943, in Sumter South Carolina, to the late Remus Dingle and Mable Carter Dingle. Bertha was educated in the Sumter County public school system and was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1963. In 1964 Bertha married the love of her life, the late Coulter JL Green Jr. Their union span over 58 years and was blessed with five wonderful loving children. Bertha retired from the Department of Defense as an early child development educator. As a mother, she was patient, selfless, and endlessly supportive. Her guidance, gentle wisdom, and steady presence shaped the lives of her children and will continue to live on through them. She found her greatest happiness in her family, especially in her role as a grandmother.
Her loving legacy will continue through her children; Denise Veal, Vanecia Land, Coulter Vincent Green, Marvel Slaughter (Albert), Kimberly Clark (Shaffer), and Christopher Remus Green. Her grandchildren, Brandon Richardson, Coulter V Green Jr., Eriell Miller, Ashton Baccous (Tim), Destiney Cooper (Daniel), Brandy Slaughter, Randy Veal Jr., Karri Green, Shaffer Lee Clark IV, Kamiyah Hollyfield, Kayla Hollyfield, and Kylee Hollyfield. Great grandchildren Coulter V. Green III, Zane Jackson, Dova Cooper, Chace Baccous, and Kia Baccous.
Bertha is survived by three sisters and three brothers: Alma Mack, Dorothy Tisdale, Betty Smalls (Frankie Lee), Henry O'Neal Dingle, Timothy Don Dingle, and Percy Dingle (Faye) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers: William Dingle, Emanual Dingle, Sammy Dingle (Peggy), James Carter, and Henry Moe Carter.
