In Loving Memory of Bernard “Mac” McClure

Bernard McClure, affectionately known as “Mac” (as well as Baby Thor, Little Bill, and Pop), was born on February 22, 1957, to the late Lugena McNeil and Robert McClure, Sr. and raised by the late Samuel Brown. Growing up in the Bronx, New York, Mac developed the strength, determination, humor, and confidence that would characterize him throughout his life.

After graduating high school, Mac joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for 20 years, retiring as a highly decorated combat veteran at the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG). Following his military career, Mac continued putting his technical skills and experience into working as a telecommunications specialist, supporting defense contracts as well as private sector organizations.

While serving in the Army, Mac met the love of his life, Lorriann Eaddy, the daughter of his First Sergeant. They married in 1978, beginning a loving partnership that would span nearly five decades. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories. Some of Mac’s fondest moments included traveling with Lorri, spending time with family, and seeing his children succeed.

A true jack of all trades, Mac enjoyed working with his hands, fixing cars, playing racquetball, and watching his favorite sports (football, baseball, NASCAR, and boxing). He especially enjoyed seeing his New York Giants, Yankees, and Knicks all win championships in his lifetime.

Though he was not tall (by any stretch of the imagination ;-), this Mighty Mini-Giant was a man whose presence, personality, determination, and impact were far greater than his physical stature. Mac was dependable, determined, strong-willed, and always ready. He loved hard, commanded respect, and was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. If you were Mac’s friend, you knew it. Mac was both generous and genuine – what you saw is what you got. He led intentionally, laughed loudly, and loved wholeheartedly.

He came to know Christ in the latter part of his life and was a member of Baconton Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended with his wife and family.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Sonny McClure, Robert (June) McClure, Jr., Shelly McNeil, and Mamie McClure; and goddaughter Stasha James. As the last living sibling, his passing marks the close of a generation while leaving behind a legacy that continues through the family they built.

Mac leaves to cherish his memory his beloved Wife - Lorriann McClure; his Children (Oldest Son - Brion McClure & Fiancé Akera “AK” Weatherspoon; Daughter - Teia (McClure) Reed & Husband Will Reed; Youngest Son - Da'Von McClure & Wife Monika McClure); Goddaughter Ayonna James; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven nieces; seven nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Mac passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 69, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, loyalty, laughter, and family.

Perhaps Pop’s legacy is best captured through the words he lived by:

“Look. Listen. Learn.” (Be aware, Be Present, Be Teachable)

“Every life lesson doesn’t have to be a hard one.” (Make good decisions)

“Watch me.” (Don’t let people tell you what you can’t do)

“I’m locked and loaded.” (Always be ready)

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, loyal friend, proud veteran, and a man who loved his family deeply - always there when they needed him. He has earned his rest.
