Retired MSG Benny Louis Carter Sr, 66 of Allenhurst, Georgia was born on August 6, 1956. He transitioned to glory Sunday, May 7,2023 while at home surrounded by his loving wife and daughter.
Benny was raised in Valdosta, GA. He is the son of the late Joe T. and Della Mae Carter and has one brother and two sisters, who preceded him in death, Joe, Mary Helen, and Gloria Gene Carter. He's survived by a brother, Tommy Carter and sister, Rosette Banks of Atlanta, GA.
Known for his positive spirit and leadership, Benny enlisted in the United States Army shortly after high school where he served an honorable 26 years of service until his retirement in 2001 at Ft. Stewart, GA.
Following his retirement, Benny's next venture was serving in Smith State Prison, Glennville, GA and later transferred to the Wayne State Prison in Jesup, Georgia, retiring after serving 16 years as a notable correction officer.
He loved spending time with his family and loved ones. College football was his favorite sport as he was always cheering on the Florida State Seminoles. A humble man with a big heart, you'd often find him lending a helping hand and doing community service. A man of God with great passion to serve, he was a deacon and usher at Baconton Missionary Baptist Church.
Benny is forever cherished and survived by his wife Sarah Carter of Allenhurst, GA, daughter, Kimyatta Carter of Charlotte, NC. and son, Benny L Carter Jr. who preceded him in death.& Benny is the Papa of three grandchildren, Kori Carter, Jacey Carter, Benny Carter III, and their loving mother Belicia Anderson Carter, of Atlanta GA. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law who he cherished in high regard, Luke, and Frances Johnson of Valdosta, GA In addition, there are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close family friends who will miss him dearly. He truly left an impact on anyone that crossed his path. He never met a stranger.
