Obituary

" To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven"
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Mother Almeaner Elizabeth "Liz" Cummings Guyton answered the call of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Memorial Health University Medical Center, Savannah, Georgia.

She was born to the late James Cummings and Almeaner Butler, on February 19, 1947, in Ludowici (Long County), Georgia.

Liz was preceded in death by one sister, Fannie Ruth Cummings Holmes, and two brothers, Alton Cummings and Lester Cummings.

She attended the public schools of Long County, and worked various jobs throughout the years, later retiring from the Liberty County Board of Education Transportation Department, in Hinesville, Georgia.

In 1973, Liz married the love of her life, Rufus "Buddy Bo" Guyton, and to this union, God blessed them with three loving and devoted children. "Liz and Buddy Bo," as they were affectionately called, were staples of the Walthourville, Georgia, community, and surrounding areas. They were beacons of light and love in the neighborhood and would open their door and hearts to family members, friends, loved ones, and anyone in need. After "49" blessed years, Buddy Bo (her lifetime love), went home to be with The Lord on January 15, 2023.

Liz loved going to church, serving God, and serving others with her whole heart. She was an amazing cook, who loved to bake and spread love with her delicious dishes. And, she was a generous giver, who would offer her last to put a smile on your face. She enjoyed being "Mama, Grandma, Nanny, and Auntie Liz" to All, and eagerly awaited any opportunity to celebrate and fellowship with those she held dear.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two loving and devoted daughters, Faye Coley, of Gum Branch, Georgia, and Kimberly Kendricks, of Flemington, Georgia; one dedicated son, Antonio (Chiniqua) Babbs of Walthourville; four grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, Chosen Anderson, of Hinesville; three sisters, Alberta Mickel of Allenhurst, Georgia; Annie Kate Davis of Walthourville, and Cheryl Pray of Hinesville; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; and very special friends, Rusty and Martha Waters, of Savannah, Georgia.
