Alexander Jamal Johnson, affectionately known as AJ, age 30, of Hinesville, Georgia,
passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, leaving behind a family and community who
deeply loved him. His life, filled with joy, love, and laughter, will forever be cherished by
those who knew him.

AJ was born on June 16, 1994, to Shay (Johnson) Gregg in Hinesville, Georgia. He
grew up surrounded by a close-knit family and was known for his infectious smile, kind
heart, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. AJ was a graduate of Matthew
Fontaine Maury High School and went on to attend Howard University, where he built
lasting friendships and touched the lives of many.

He is survived by his loving mother, Shay Gregg; his father, Johnnie Gregg; his siblings,
Jordan Gregg, Jaden Gregg, Avery Gregg, Jasmine Gregg, and Tiara Gregg. He will be
remembered fondly by his grandmothers, Katie Johnson and Wilma Gregg; aunts Lori
(Keenan) Gamble, Cheryl (Kenneth) Griffith, Shanda Johnson, Ashley Morris, and
Angela (Ron) Carter; uncle Andre (Tamekia) Gregg; and cousins Kayla, Kristen,
Kourtney, Brian, Bella, Ryleigh, Bayleigh, Ashton M, Andre Jr, Ashton G, and Aiden. AJ
was deeply loved by his family and will be forever missed.

A Funeral Service in Celebration of AJ's life will be held at Pleasant Grove AME Church,
1450 Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA 31313, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at
11:00 AM, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 AM.

Though AJ's time with us has ended, his spirit and the love he brought into the world will
continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of kindness and the
joy he spread will never be forgotten.
