Leon Clark Obituary

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6

Leon “Bonzo” Clark was born to Henry Green and the late Viola Clark on October 29, 1954.  On Monday, November 21, 2022, he answered the Father’s call from his earthly journey to eternal rest.

At an early age, he became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, GA.  One of the most profound biblicalteachings he held deep in his heart was “God commands us to love one another.”

Leon attended the public schools in Bryan County, and he often shared many delightful memories about George Washington Carver School.  Although Leon worked in various capacities, he was a highly skilled packing, shipping, and handling facilitator who learned every aspect of the logistics department.  After working many years at Covan Moving Company in Richmond Hill, GA, he enjoyed the life of retirement to the fullest.

He joined in holy matrimony the love of his life, the late Alice Berry Clark.  Together, God gave them the grace and wisdom toprovide spiritual enlightenment and genuine love to four wonderful children.

He was a kind and humble man who gave out of the abundance of his heart.  Whenever the storms of life arose, he would encourage others while speaking life into himself by saying, “It’ll be all right.”  Some of his greatest passions were having a competitive spirit and relaxing and enjoying the outdoors filled with all of God’s creations.  He also loved watching the great-grandchildren run and play relentlessly in the yard, illustrating innocence, imagination, and vitality.

Leon was preceded in death by three brothers:  Brady Clark, Sylvester Poinsett, and Marlon Houston.

His memories will always be cherished by his; four children:Andrea (Charles) Gordon of Allenhurst, GA; Jesse Scott of Baltimore, MD; Michael (Marci) Scott of Atlanta, GA; Robert (Varonica) Scott of Stockbridge, GA; father, Henry Green of Savannah, GA; ten sisters: Hattie King, Zondra Green, KenitraGreen, Freda (Mike) Clark, all of Richmond Hill, GA; Valerie Jackson of Macon, GA; Carolyn Mobley, Sylvia Demery, Kimberly (Alvin) Jenkins, and Lavonya Green all of Savannah, GA; and Dorothy (Phillip) Jackson of Brunswick, GA; fourbrothers: Calvin (Leah) Fulwood of Atlanta, GA; Leo Morgan and Levi (Delores) Morgan both of Fleming, GA; and Byron Green of Ft. Meyers, FL; three sisters-in-law: Matilda (Warren) Riles of Midway, GA, Emma (Lewis) Lowder of Riceboro, GA, and Theresa Lynn Poinsett of Richmond Hill, GA; one brother-in-law, George (Amalia) Berry of Lawrenceville, GA; threeaunts: Lula Mae (Charlie) Fuller, Mary Fulwood both of Richmond Hill, GA, and Clara Stroman of Rochester, NY; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
